Helen Britton
In the expansion of Helen Britton’s artistic universe, jewelry has always had a fundamental place, but also a non-exclusive one. She is interested in the dissipation of boundaries and hierarchies between genres and languages that had expanded the status of arts towards new possibilities starting in the 1960s, a wave she caught the tail end of in the less turbulent but even more eclectic late-1980s. Helen Britton moves effortlessly between drawing and photography, painting and design, sculpture and a new conception of jewels as autonomous work of art. (Marco Bazzini in Helen Britton. The Dark Garden, Prearo Editore, 2021)
